Facial hair and hormonal hair growth.
Hair on the chin, lip, neck or cheeks is rarely easy to live with. Many of the women I see have tried everything: tweezers, wax, threading, razors. They arrive tired of starting again every morning.
I can help you, often far more than you imagine. My aim is for these hairs to stop being a daily concern. I explain what is possible for you and at what pace, then I support you over time.

Where does this hair come from?
More noticeable facial hair can be linked to age (menopause), heredity, medication or a hormonal imbalance, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
If your hair growth appeared quickly or comes with other symptoms, I advise you to talk to your GP or gynaecologist. Treating the cause and removing the hair go hand in hand.
What I can do

Electrolysis, my technique of choice for the face
The face is a delicate area, where hair growth depends a great deal on hormones. I generally favour electrolysis (thermolysis) here: it treats each follicle individually, whatever the colour of the hair, vellus hair included, with no risk of paradoxical hair growth. The treatment is gradual and generally extends over about a year, with sessions close together at first.
Read the electrolysis page →Laser, for some very dark hairs
On very dark, coarse hairs, for example on the chin or neck, laser can be useful. I suggest it when it makes sense.
Laser hair removal →What you should know
The result is a real relief.
Hormonal hair growth needs more sessions
As long as hormones stimulate the follicles, new hairs can appear. Every hormonal situation is different: we talk it through together at the information session, to adapt the treatment and its pace to you.
Maintenance is necessary
I recommend at least one or two sessions a year, sometimes more depending on your hormonal situation.
The result is a real relief
Less hair, finer hair, and far less time spent in front of the mirror. Many of my clients wish they had started sooner.
I guide you to the right technique
If your hair is too fine or too light for laser, I tell you before we start and suggest electrolysis.
How the follow-up works
- 01
Information session (first consultation)
Free of charge for laser; €20 for electrolysis, including 5 minutes of treatment to test the area. I look at your hair (colour, thickness, density) and your skin, and ask you a few questions about your health and any medication.
- 02
The right plan for you
Usually electrolysis; sometimes laser for a few very dark hairs.
- 03
Regular sessions
Then spaced further apart.
- 04
Regular reviews
If anything changes (medication, pregnancy, menopause), we adapt.
Good habits
Disinfect
After an electrolysis session, disinfect the area with an alcohol-free disinfectant, then apply a non-greasy healing cream.
No tweezing, waxing or threading
No tweezers, wax or threading: both laser and electrolysis need the hair to be in its bulb. Shaving (for laser, 48 hours before the session) or trimming with scissors is fine. Before an electrolysis session, do not shave the area: the hair must be visible to be treated.
The sun
Protect your face from the sun (SPF 50). After a laser session, avoid the sun for 4 to 5 days.
Let me know
Tell me about any new medication, even a cream.

Your questions about the face and hormones
All the questions on a single page: the full FAQ.
Can laser make facial hair worse?
Laser does not work on very fine vellus hair. That is why, on the face, I favour electrolysis: it also treats vellus hair, with no risk of paradoxical hair growth.
I have PCOS. Is it worth it?
Yes. The improvement is often significant, as long as you know in advance that more sessions and maintenance will be needed. We talk about it frankly at the information session, with your doctor if needed.
I am post-menopausal and my hair is white.
Laser does not pick it up. Electrolysis, which does not depend on hair colour, is then the right technique.
I am on hormonal treatment (the pill, an anti-androgen, etc.). Can I start?
Generally yes. Let me know about your treatment at the information session: we take it into account together.
Can I keep tweezing?
No, not during treatment. Shaving or trimming is fine.
